Are images/documents from Dropbox added to the WP Media Library, so that there is a copy on dropbox and my WP server? Or is the WP media library entry just a "link" and the only physical copy is on Dropbox? I guess another way to ask that is when a user views the image is it sourced from the media library or Dropbox? Hope that makes sense.

Yes, the actual file data is stored on a cloud server, while the local server only saves information about the files, such as metadata and file references.
