Download full resolution images even if displayed ones are resized

I was just wondering if there's a way to make the displayed images in the gallery be resized pictures, to save space, but when downloaded, they are downloaded as the full resolution ones?

The download size of images remains at their original dimensions, but you can adjust the display size for images on the frontend in the settings (attachment).
